Haggis Tacos Recipe

Haggis Tacos for Burns Night? Okay it might not be your traditional way of serving Haggis but hey, why not add a bit of Mexican Flare to your Burns Night this year?

This Haggis Taco recipe is a game changer and they are so easy to make.

Whilst you can buy Haggis from all-good butchers and most supermarkets at this time of year, if you want to go the whole hog which most Weschenfelder customers do, you can make the Haggis from scratch using the Haggis Making Kit and this Haggis recipe here.

Right back to the Tacos. This is a simple and easy recipe with a few twists that will get family and friends talking around the table.

This recipe will make around 12 - 16 Tacos depending on how full you like your tacos.

INGREDIENTS

The Meat

750g of Haggis

3 teaspoons ground cumin

2 cloves garlic finely chopped

3 teaspoons chilli flakes

2 Shallots finely chopped

30g Coriander leaves roughly chopped

10 Cherry tomatoes diced

1 lime

Cucumber shavings

200ml Sour Cream

20ml Whisky

METHOD

1. Add a dash of oil to the pan and bring up to a medium heat. Cut into the skin of the haggis and spoon out the mixture into a preheated pan. Add the cumin, garlic and chilli flakes to the haggis and mix well.

2. Whilst the Haggis is warming through, start making the salsa, chopping up finely tomatoes, shallots, red pepper and coriander leaves. Pop it all into a bowl. Chop your lime in half and squeeze one half in with your mix along with a dash of olive oil. Season with salt and pepper to your taste.

3. Add the sour cream to a bowl. Add the whiskey and whisk together vigorously. Add a dash of black pepper for seasoning.

4. Now Warm your tacos on a preheated pan. Whilst they are warming through, create cucumber shavings using a veggie peeler.

5. Once the tacos are heated through and the haggis is up to a piping hot temperature it's time to serve up. Spoon the haggis on the tacos, add the salsa, cucumber and a dollop on your whisky sour cream.
